All over Ulster County

I try my best to make posts with photos with a common theme, but sometimes they just don’t all fit together. So, here are a bunch of random photos from around Ulster County that I’d like to share.

Steer having a little fun at Longyear Farm in Woodstock

Old truck at Lou's Boat Basin in Kingston

Chipmunk along Lenape Lane at Mohonk Preserve in New Paltz

Crag Trail near the Spring Farm Trailhead of Mohonk Preserve

While searching for the super moon the dusk clouds were beautiful at Kingston Point Park

Catskill Park

The Catskill Park consists of roadways, forests, streams, hiking trails, and much more. I have spent a decent amount of time there recently, and have enjoyed it. It’s a place I was in somewhat often as a child and teenager, but did not really understand or appreciate. I am in the process of starting to understand it not! Here are a few photos.

Overcast day at Kaaterskill Falls - the Upper Falls alone are taller than US section of Niagara Falls

Futher down Kaaterskill Creek looking towards Route 23A

Interesting light in the morning on Dug Hill Road in West Hurley

Just a portion of the incredible view from Artists' Rock near North-South Lake in Haines Falls

View towards North-South Lake from Sunset Rock

Rosendale Library

The Rosendale Library is a place I spent a good amount of time in when I was young, and it’s always had a nice small town charm to it. In this photo you can see a historical marker, which tells of its history briefly. It reads:

Rosendale Library – Formerly All Saints Chapel. Built in 1876 of Rosendale Cement. Dedicated State and National Historic Site. August 11, 1986.

Kingston

The history of Kingston, New York is fascinating. Not only was it the first capital of the State of New York, but it’s got a deep industrial history, that I’m trying to learn about and explore further. The Hudson River and Rondout Creek were and are an integral part of this.

Beautiful early morning view of Kingston from behind Hasbrouck Park

The "Old bridge" over the Rondout Creek to Port Ewen - as opposed to the "New bridge" that was built in 1978!

Hutton Brick Company, on the Hudson River, abandoned for many, many years. I think it closed in the 1960s.

The Search Is On

I have had a chance to dedicate a large amount of time to my photography of the Hudson Valley this week, and have done a lot of exploring the area in my Jeep as much as possible, and looking for interesting vantage points. It is amazing how many neat things I have found in my search, on the side of the road.

Interesting old barn on Pine Road in New Paltz, while looking for cool views of Mohonk Skytop

Somebody turned a bus into a living space! Apparently a LONG time ago.

I found what I think is an original view of Mohonk Skytop - through a vine!
